PhotoDusan M. Stipanovic

Assistant Professor

Dr. Dušan Stipanović received his B.S. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Belgrade, Belgrade, Serbia, in 1994, and the M.S.E.E. and Ph.D. degrees (under supervision of Professor Dragoslav Šiljak) in electrical engineering from Santa Clara University, Santa Clara, California, in 1996 and 2000, respectively.

Dr. Stipanović was an Adjunct Lecturer and Research Associate with the Department of Electrical Engineering at Santa Clara University in the period between 1998 and 2001, and a Research Associate in Professor Claire Tomlin’s Hybrid Systems Laboratory of the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at Stanford University, Stanford, California, in the period between 2001 and 2004. In 2004 he joined the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Industrial and Enterprise Systems Engineering and a Research Assistant Professor in the Control and Decision Group of the Coordinated Science Laboratory. His research interests include decentralized control of interconnected systems with application to control of formations of vehicles and sensor networks, stability of discontinuous dynamic systems, differential game theory, and optimization with application to multiple vehicle coordination and systems safety verification. Dr Stipanović is a member of the IEEE, the AIAA, and the International Society of Dynamic Games. Currently, Dr. Stipanović serves as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems II.
