Ramavarapu S. Sreenivas

Associate Professor

Ramavarapu "RS" Sreenivas, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Industrial and Enterprise Systems Engineering, joined the faculty in Fall 1992. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in September 1990 and M.S. in Electrical Engineering also from Carnegie Mellon University in 1987. He completed his undergraduate education at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, India in the area of Electrical Engineering in 1985. He was a post-doctoral fellow in Decision and Control at the Division of Applied Sciences, Harvard University for two years before joining the University of Illinois. Dr. Sreenivas is also a Research Associate Professor with the Coordinated Science Laboratory, and an Affiliate of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

His research interests lie in the area of modeling, analysis, control and performance evaluation of Discrete-state/Discrete-event systems. His other interests include the use of Machine Learning, Approximate Algorithms and Online Algorithms for the synthesis of near-optimal policies for various problems involving Discrete-State/Discrete-Event Systems. He was an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions of Automatic Control.
