Edward N. Kuznetsov
Professor Emeritus
Edward N. Kuznetsov, Sc.D., professor emeritus of general engineering, joined the faculty in 1980. He graduated in Structural Engineering from the Moscow Civil Engineering Institute (USSR), received his Candidate of Technical Sciences degree from the same Institute and Doctor of Technical Sciences degree from the Central Research Institute of Structures, Moscow.
Before coming to the University of Illinois Dr. Kuznetsov worked as a Structural Engineer at the State Design Institute, Research Scientist at the Institute of Reinforced Concrete, and Senior Research Scientist at the Central Research Institute of Structures in Moscow. Since 1976 he worked as a Principal Research Scientist in Mechanics and Structures Department at the Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus, Ohio.
Over a period of years Dr. Kuznetsov has worked on a variety of design and R&D projects involving theory, design, analysis and optimization of shells, membranes, thin-walled structures and cable systems. His current research interests are in the theory and analysis of underconstrained structural systems and tensile structures. In this area he has written over sixty technical publications (including two invited reviews and three books)
