W.
Brent Hall
Associate Professor
W. Brent Hall, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Industrial and Enterprise Systems Engineering, joined
the faculty after receiving his Ph.D. degree in structural engineering
from the University of Waterloo, Canada. In Spring 1999, he will
serve as Coordinator of Project Design Activity. The position includes
chairing
the senior project course for which 25-35 projects are solicited
annually from participating
industries and are addressed by student
teams with
faculty advisors. He will administer the course, arrange for presentations,
evaluate and grade for the project teams.
His research interests include
structural reliability and safety, and optimization of structures
and components. His engineering experience
has been in the areas of cold-formed steel design, structural analysis,
and municipal engineering.
Currently, Hall is working on probalistic
evaluation and design procedures for load tested structural systems,
based on reliability models developed
earlier. He is also doing research on optimal structural standardization,
and on robustness assessment of controlled structural systems using
reliability methods.
