Rose
Mary Cordova-Wentling
Professor of Human Behavior in Engineering
Rose Mary Cordova-Wentling, Professor of Human Behavior in Engineering,
joined the faculty in the Department in 2004.
Professor Cordova-Wentling is also a Senior Research Scientist at
the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) at the University
of Illinois. She graduated from the University of Northern Colorado
with a B.A. degree and M.A. degree in Business Education. She earned
her Ph.D. degree in Human Resource Education from the University
of
Illinois.
Her major program of research has to do with improving human
resource work performance. It focuses on expanding our knowledge
base related
to how organizations in the future will effectively utilize information
technology and human resources to maximize work performance. Within
her major program of research there are four areas. These four
areas include: the career development of women in management, the
effective management of diversity in education and the workplace, the
use
of
information technology to enhance human performance in the workplace,
and human
behavior in engineering.
One of her primary goals is to help lead
in developing the College of Engineering’s Program in Human
Behavior. She teaches primarily in the Human Behavior thrust of the
Department.
Some of the courses
she teaches include: Interpersonal Skills and Emotional Intelligence,
Leading Sustainable Change, Engaging Leaders, Career Development
of Women in Engineering, and Gender and Culture in Engineering.
She has given over 100 presentations at international, national, regional,
and state conferences. She has served as a consultant
for many business firms in improving training quality and issues
related to gender and to diversity in education and the workplace.
She
has conducted
many research studies and has published over 70 journal articles
related to her research. She co-authored two books one on Microcomputer
Technologies
for Developing Countries and another on The Role of Diversity
in the Successful Transition of Minority Youth into the Workplace.
She
also
is currently writing a book on The Career Development and Aspirations
of Women in Management. She is a member of several professional
organizations and has received many awards and honors for her
work as a researcher
