Ali's
research deals with the interdisciplinary issues of developing and managing
complex engineering systems. This research is motivated by a lack of formal
Product Development (PD) models in the engineering/operations management literature and
practice. His research concentrates on this gap by using quantitative techniques
[based on optimization theory, linear systems theory, and stochastic modeling]
to formulate and analyze an emerging set of product development (PD) problems, including the management of
iteration, overlapping decisions, system
decomposition & integration, and
information technology enabled PD.
