Currently, the Nondestructive Testing and Evaluation (NDT&E) Research Laboratory houses over $600,000 worth of NDT&E equipment. The original funding was provided by the National Science Foundation, the Department of General Engineering, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The Laboratory has been supported by NASA Lewis Research Center, U.S. Army, Forest Products Laboratory, Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, General Electric, as well as by donations from Sundstrand Aviation, Monsanto Company, Amoco, Allied Signal, Elco, Masonite Corporation, and Weyerhaeuser Corporation. We look forward to acquire thermal imaging and shearography equipment in the near future. Currently, the Laboratory is equipped to support research work in the following areas:
