Information Systems and Decision Analysis
Laboratory
Director: Professor Ali Abbas
Everyone makes decisions but a few people
think about how they do it. Psychological research has shown that
people make decisions that
upon close examination, they regard as wrong. Our research focuses
on the theory and practice of helping people and organizations
make better decisions. This work includes research in many different
areas.
Recent research in our lab includes tools and applications
in the areas of:
(1) Decision making with incomplete information and preferences,
(2) Data-based decision making
(3) Decision-Based Design
(4) Medical decision making,
(5) Information theory,
(6) Utility theory,
(7) Game theory,
(8) Dynamic programming.
One of our objectives is to bring decision
education to high school students and teens. This has resulted
in several programs with
the Decision Education Foundation. For more information on
this, click here Volunteer
work.
The Decision Analysis Team is composed of People.
A sample of some
of the courses taught are: GE-498
